Worried about paying your mortgage?

We're here to help

We understand that circumstances can change and if you’re worried about meeting your mortgage payments, please contact us.  Our mortgage team are here to support you and they’ll be able to discuss the different options that are available.

What to expect

We appreciate talking about your finances may not be easy, but we're help and we will work with you to put together a plan that will be specific to you and your circumstances.

The more you can share about your financial situation, the more we can do to help. We may ask a lot of questions to understand your situation, including asking you to fill out a budget planner.  Be open and honest when speaking with us, so that we can be sure that any plan we offer will be right for you.

When should I contact you

Don't wait until you’ve missed a payment to speak to us. The earlier you talk to us, the sooner we’ll be able to help. Missing payments or going overdrawn can cause charges to be applied.

Will my credit file be affected

Simply speaking to us won't impact your credit file. By getting in touch, we can help find an affordable solution for you, reducing the impact on your credit file.

A credit file is a record of how you borrow, manage and repay money. This history covers anything from a mortgage to a mobile phone contract. The credit file should protect customers and lenders from dangerous borrowing. As a bank, we need to make sure we don’t lend and cause a customer financial harm.

Do I need to do anything before I contact you

It would be good to have your income details and a breakdown of your average weekly or monthly spending when you call. We may need to know about other debts and other financial commitments, so that we can make sure any solution we suggest is affordable for you.

Is there any help available outside of contacting you?

We recognise that you might want to seek independent advice before contacting us. Here are some links to some support organisations in your community who might be able to help you, especially if you're concerned about payments to multiple lenders.
