Financial Crime Investigator

Location: Isle of Man

Role purpose:

To provide expert investigative and advisory service by researching and evaluating financial crime so as to maintain, develop and implement compliance with legislative requirements and minimise financial loss to the Company. They will assist in mitigating regulatory breaches and accompanying financial fines.

Key accountabilities:

  • Investigate alerts generated from an automated transaction monitoring system

  • Review payment alerts in sanction screening tools to ensure payments are processed in line with UK, Jersey, Isle of Man and worldwide sanctions regime requirements

  • Analyse suspicious activity reports (SARS) referred to the Money Laundering Reporting Officer

  • Maintain awareness of practices and legislation in relation to financial crime

  • Manage complaints within service level agreement in 100% of cases, and implementations to rectify root-cause issues identified

  • Ensure mandatory training and continuing professional development obligations are completed within the required timeframes

  • Demonstrate behaviours in line with the Santander Way; being simple, personal and fair

  • Contribute to the delivery of the business plan for the financial crime operations team

Skills / Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years investigative experience gained in a financial organisation

  • Minimum of 2 years working in a customer service environment

  • Ability to analyse and evaluate complex issues, and sound judgement in determining appropriate actions/solutions

  • Excellent analytical, interpretation, influencing and communication skills; ability to communicate and network effectively
